Information on selection procedures and entrance exams

Only for the winter semester 2019/20

Applied computer science, Bachelor (100%, 50%), entrance examination

  • Upper school grades in mathematics, computer science or another natural science / technical subject
  • Course-specific vocational training or employment
  • Course-specific special previous training, practical activities or extracurricular achievements and qualifications.

There is a preselection. Anyone who already achieves a certain number of points according to the statutes without an interview will receive admission without participating in the interview. Accordingly, applicants who do not achieve a certain number of points according to the statutes will not be invited to an interview; the remaining applicants will be invited to an interview. The talks will take place on August 1st, 2019.

Biochemistry, Bachelor (100%), DOSV

A selection interview will take place on July 26th, 2019. Invitations are made based on a preselection. The preselection for the interview consists of:

  • Total points of the HZB
  • Upper school grades in mathematics
  • Upper school grades in two subjects from chemistry, biology, physics
  • other services such as:
    • Completed vocational training (see selection statute)
    • practical activities
    • Extracurricular achievements, e.g. prizes and awards

The ranking list for admission results from the result of the selection interview and the number of points from the pre-selection.

Biosciences, Bachelor (100%), DOSV

  • Total points of the HZB
  • Upper school grades in biology, chemistry, English, physics or mathematics of your choice
  • Completed professional training as biological technical assistant, chemical technical assistant or pharmaceutical technical assistant. Other training occupations will not be considered in the selection process.

There will be neither an interview nor a test. The selection is made on the basis of the application documents submitted.

Biology, Bachelor (50%)

The selection criteria are identical to the biosciences, Bachelor (100%), but in the case of the upper school grades, the courses in German are added. There will be neither an interview nor a test. The selection is made on the basis of the application documents submitted.

Chemistry, Bachelor (100%, 50%), entrance exam

  • Upper school grades in math, chemistry, or other science
  • other services according to table 1 of the statutes for the aptitude assessment procedure

There is a preselection. Anyone who already achieves a certain number of points according to the statutes without an interview will receive admission without participating in the interview. There will be neither an interview nor a test. The selection is made on the basis of the application documents submitted.

Geosciences, Bachelor (100%), entrance exam

  • Upper school grades in math, chemistry, or other science

Interprofessional health care, Bachelor (100%), DOSV

  • Average grade of the university entrance qualification
  • Type of professional training and occupation, special previous training, practical activities as well as extracurricular achievements and qualifications that provide particular information about the suitability for the Interprofessional Healthcare course
  • Proof of a valid training agreement with a training facility that has concluded a cooperation agreement with Heidelberg University for the implementation of the course
  • CV and letter of motivation
  • Result of the selection interview

A selection interview will take place on July 25, 2019, to which you will probably be invited by email from the Medical Faculty Heidelberg one week in advance.

Molecular Biotechnology, Bachelor (100%), DOSV

A selection interview will take place on July 26th, 2019. Invitations are made based on a preselection. The preselection for the interview consists of:

  • Total points of the HZB
  • Upper school grades in German, mathematics, English, chemistry, biology, physics
  • other services such as:
    • Completed vocational training (see selection statute)
    • practical activities
    • Extracurricular achievements, e.g. prizes and awards

The ranking for admission results from the result of the selection interview and the number of points from the pre-selection.
The invitations for the selection interview will be sent by email from the Institute for Pharmacy and Molecular Biotechnology.

Physics, Bachelor (100%, 50%, LO), entrance exam

A selection interview will take place between July 29, 2019 and August 2, 2019. To limit the number of participants, a pre-selection takes place according to the following criteria:

  • Upper school grades in mathematics and physics (or biology, chemistry, computer science, technology)
  • Course-specific vocational training and activity
  • Course-specific previous training, practical activities, extracurricular performance and qualifications (see statutes)

Political Science, Bachelor (75%, 50%, 25%)

  • Total points of the HZB
  • Upper school grades in German, mathematics, modern foreign language, social studies or history or philosophy
  • Vocational training or activities, practical activities or extracurricular achievements (see selection statute)

There will be neither an interview nor a test. The selection is made on the basis of the application documents submitted.

Psychology, Bachelor 100%, DOSV

  • Total points of the HZB
  • Completed vocational training in a relevant training occupation

There will be neither an interview nor a test. The selection is made on the basis of the application documents submitted.

Law, state examination, DOSV

  • Total points of the HZB
  • Upper school grades in German, mathematics, foreign language
  • Completed professional training as a bank or insurance clerk

There will be neither an interview nor a test. The selection is made on the basis of the application documents submitted.

Romance Studies: French, Bachelor (50%, 33%, 25%), entrance exam

  • Upper school grades in French or another Romance language or Latin
    if the language of the desired subject was not taken during the last four half-years of the gymnasiale Oberstufe, the last annual grade from an earlier year level can alternatively be used if the subject was previously taken as a subject for at least five years.
  • Upper school grades in German or another foreign language

The best-ranking applicants according to the selection statutes will be admitted directly. The selection interviews are expected to take place on August 5, 2019 and August 6, 2019. The Romance Seminar invites you to do this by e-mail.

Romance Studies: Italian, Bachelor (50%, 33%, 25%), entrance exam

  • Upper school grades in Italian or another Romance language or Latin
    if the language of the desired subject was not taken during the last four half-years of the gymnasiale Oberstufe, the last annual grade from an earlier year level can alternatively be used if the subject was previously taken as a subject for at least five years.
  • Upper school grades in German or another foreign language

  • Upper school grades in German or another foreign language

Sociology, Bachelor (100%), DOSV

  • Total points of the HZB
  • Upper school grades in German, mathematics, modern foreign language, social studies / social studies alternatively history or philosophy
  • Completed training: commercial apprenticeship or employees in the upper class of public administration
  • Regular practical activities of at least six months in the fields of electronic and print media as well as social and political organizations.

There will be neither an interview nor a test. The selection is made on the basis of the application documents submitted.

Sports Science, Bachelor (75%, 50%)

  • Total points of the university entrance qualification
  • Completed trainer / trainer training, at least license level 1 of the German Sports Federation (trainer C, specialist trainer F, trainer Ü, youth leader, organization manager)
  • Vocational training or activities that are relevant to the area of ​​"Sport in Prevention and Rehabilitation"
  • top placings at state championships in the past three years (individual sports)
  • Memberships in regional squads in the past three years (team sports)

There will be neither an interview nor a test. The selection is made on the basis of the application documents submitted. Proof of having passed the sports entrance examination must be enclosed with the application. Certificates from universities other than Heidelberg University must be recognized as equivalent by the Institute for Sport and Sports Science and must also be submitted to the student office with the application by July 15, 2019.
