Due to the different data collection, the surveys of the population register of the city of Freiburg (January 1st, 2020) show only 227,090 citizens of Freiburg. According to this, 26,110 people live in the eight Freiburg districts: in Ebnet 2,665, in Hochdorf 5,273, in Kappel 2,684, in Lehen 2,462, in Munzingen 3,011, in Opfi ngen 4,478, in Tiengen 3,335 and in Waltershofen 2,202 people. 16.1% of the population in Freiburg are not yet of legal age (under 18 years of age), 61.7% are between 18 and 60 and 22.2% are 60 years and older. In Freiburg there are 27,955 residential buildings (1.7% of which were new buildings in the last 5 years) with 125,346 apartments. Of the 125,881 Freiburg households, an impressive 53.6% are single-person households, 26.2% of the households have two people, 9.5% three people, 7.1% four people and 3.6% % five or more people. 27,060 of the multi-person households have children (5,323 of them are single parents). In 2019, there were 2,488 births, 1,938 deaths, 2,943 people marrying and 749 people who were divorced in Freiburg. 21,193 new arrivals and 20,855 departures took place. There were 18,283 moves in the city center. As of June 30, 2018, there were 125,982 employees subject to social security contributions in the city, of which 66,224 (= 52.6%) were women. The halls of the new trade fair at the airfield, including the SICK arena, offer 21,500 square meters of roofed exhibition and event space, the outdoor area in front of it another 190,000 square meters. The events there in 2018 counted around 480,000 visitors. With its halls and conference rooms, the concert hall has over 2,500 square meters of space, which in 2018 was attended by over 200,000 people. With the historic department store on Münsterplatz, the community center on the Seepark and the community center in Zähringen, a further 3,436 square meters of event space are available. The city of Freiburg is still growing and is changing in all areas such as infrastructure, architecture, local public transport and much more. The best example of expansion is the Dietenbach district, which will be built in the west of Freiburg over the next few years.
