Why didn't Google work

How can we help you?

If WhatsApp can't find a backup, it could be that:

  • you're not signed in to your Google Account.
  • you are not using the same phone number that was used for the backup.
  • your SD card or chat history is defective.
  • no backup file exists on Google Drive or locally on your phone.

Can't create Google Drive backup

If you're having trouble creating a Google Drive backup, check the following:

  • You added a Google account on your phone.
  • Google Play services are installed on your phone.
  • If you're trying to back up using mobile data, both WhatsApp and Google Play services must be allowed to use mobile data. Contact your carrier if you're not sure.
  • Try making a backup on a different network. Connect to a WiFi network if it's not working on cellular data.

Google Drive backup cannot be restored

If you're having trouble restoring a Google Drive backup, check the following:

  • You are using the same phone number and Google Account that the backup was made with.
  • You have enough free space on your phone to restore the backup.
  • Google Play services are installed on your phone.
  • Your battery is full or your device is connected to a charging cable.
  • Your phone has a stable and strong internet connection. If restoring does not work in a cellular network, please use a WLAN.
