How do you show love for God

What are some signs of serious redeeming faith?

This is one of the most important questions in the Christian life. Many believers doubt their salvation because they cannot see signs of serious faith in their lives. Some say one should never doubt one's decision to follow Christ, but the Bible tells us to test ourselves to see if we are truly in the faith (2 Corinthians 13: 5). Fortunately, God has given us ample guidance on how to know for sure that we have eternal life. Incidentally, John's first epistle was written precisely for this purpose, as it says in 1 John 5:13: “I wrote this to you so that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God. "

There are a number of tests in 1 John that we can use to test ourselves and our faith. As we look at these, we should remember that no human can pass all tests perfectly all the time, but they should show a consistent trend that characterizes our lives as we grow in the grace of God.

1. Do you enjoy fellowship with Christ and his redeemed people? (1 John 1,3)

2. Would people say of you that you walk your way in the light - or in the dark? (1 John 1: 6-7)

3. Do you admit and confess sin? (1 John 1,8)

4. Are You Obedient to the Word of God? (1 John 2: 3-5)

5. Does your life indicate that you love God more than the world? (1 John 2:15)

6. Is your life determined by “doing justice”? (1 John 2:29)

7. Do you strive for a pure life? (1 John 3,3)

8. Do you see a waning pattern of sin in your life? (1 John 3: 5-6) [Note: this refers to not continuing a sinful lifestyle, not the total absence of sin.]

9. Do you show love for other Christians? (1 John 3:14)

10. “Do you go the way” as opposed to “speaking for the sake of speaking”? (1 John 3: 18-19)

11. Do you keep a clear conscience? (1 John 3:21)

12. Do you experience victories on your Christian path? (1 John 5,4)

If you can honestly answer “yes” to these questions (or most of them and if you work on others), then your Christian life will bear the fruits of true salvation. Jesus said that through our fruits we will be recognized as followers of Jesus (Matthew 7:20). Fruitless branches - believers who only claim to be Christians but do not produce any fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5: 22-23) are cut off and thrown into the fire (John 15: 2). A true, sincere belief is not only belief in God (the devils themselves believe in God - James 2:19), but it leads to open confession of sins and obedience to Christ's commandments. Remember, we are redeemed by grace and faith, not by our deeds and works (Ephesians 2: 8-9), but our works should show the authenticity of our salvation (James 2: 17-18). Serious redeeming faith will always produce good works; a faith that is permanently without good works is not faith and neither does it redeem.

In addition to these affirmations, we need to remember God's promise and the reality of the war we are in. Satan the devil is as real as Jesus Christ, and he is a formidable enemy of our souls. If we turn to Christ, Satan will use every opportunity to deceive and defeat us. He will try to convince us that we are worthless losers or that God has given up on us. When we are in Christ we have the assurance that we will be preserved in him. Jesus himself prayed for us in John 17:11: “Holy Father, receive them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one like us.” Also in verse 15 Jesus prayed: “I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but that you keep them from evil. "In John 10: 27-29 Jesus said:" My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me; and I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. What my father has given me is greater than anything and no one can snatch it out of the father's hand. ”If you hear Jesus' voice and are obedient to it, then you are one of his sheep and he will never let go of you. Jesus gave us a wonderful image of Christians who are held securely in his loving hands, and the almighty hands of the Father are entwined around the hands of Jesus, whereby we can be doubly assured of eternal life.
