Tip Instacart buyers

Save 10% on Instacart by removing the service fee

InstaCart automatically charges a 10% service fee for every order you place. However, you can also opt out of this fee to save 10% on every InstaCart order you place.

This 10% fee is separate from the tip. We recommend that you tip your delivery driver after delivery or before delivery as the tip goes directly to the person doing the job. The optional 10% fee goes to InstaCart.

Place an order to disable the service charge by InstaCart normally. When you get to the final screen with your payment details and price, tap the "Edit" button to the right of the "Service Fee" option above the subtotal.

On the Service Fee page, tap the 10% option, then select Waiver ($ 0) to turn off the service fee. You can also add a tip here or give your deliverer a tip after delivery.

After selecting the Skip option, tap "Save" to confirm your changes. Back on the main order screen, the service fee should now be $ 0. Tap "Place Order" to place your order.

You will have to do with refusing every order you make; This is not a permanent setting. If you want to go back and make changes to your order, InstaCart will reactivate the service fee and you will need to deactivate it again once you reach this screen.

The “More Information” link on the Service Fee screen will take you to this page on the InstaCart Help website, which explains that “Instacart uses the service fee to operate our service and to provide you with the best possible service. The service charge is not a tip and does not go directly to the buyer delivering your order. "

InstaCart apparently uses some of that service fee to pay its buyers, but you can ensure your buyers get paid better by tipping them directly.
