- The informal form of address is used in the family, among friends and acquaintances, and often among colleagues.
- Friends, acquaintances and family members are addressed by their first name.
- Children usually say to parents mummy and father, to the grandparents granny and Grandpa.
Good afternoon, Ms. Kamp! - Good day!
Good morning, Mr. Miller! – Good morning, Ms. Schneider!
- The formal salutation is used for unfamiliar adults, in business situations, at government offices or when shopping.
- Men are formally spoken to Mr and the family name, women with Mrs and the family name.
- If you are unsure whether informal or formal, choose the formal salutation.
