Internet Safari: Install and activate Flash Player


If you want to play various browser games, videos or other multimedia browser content in Safari, you often need the Adobe Flash Player. In order to be able to use this, you have to download and install the Flash plug-in or activate it for pages afterwards.

Note: Adobe is saying goodbye to Flash at the end of 2020.

Install missing Flash Player

Activate Flash Player in Safari

If Adobe Flash Player is already installed on your Mac but does not work in the browser, it may be because the plug-in is simply disabled. You can find out how to activate the plug-in in our step-by-step instructions or the quick start guide.

  1. Open a website in Safari that requires Flash, such as and click on the placeholder here "Missing plug-in".
  2. Then go to "Load flash"continue to the Adobe download page.
  3. Over "Download now"download the .dmg filewhich you can then access via the Installation wizard install as usual.

  1. Open Safari and then the settings via [⌘] + [,].
  2. In the tab "Website" Are you looking for "Plug-ins"and activate the checkbox next to"Adobe Flash Player".
  3. You can now determine how Flash behaves either for all websites or only for individual domains. To do this, click on the options "When visiting other websites"or next to the web pages and choose between"ask", "Out"or"At".
