How to determine your personal electricity consumption in the household
The quickest and probably easiest way to find out how much electricity is being used is to read the electricity meter.
There is an electricity meter in every household, which is either already installed or has to be installed by the property manager or the owner.
When you read your electricity meter, please make a note of your meter reading. It is advisable to read off your personal electricity consumption on a monthly basis so that you can determine the total at the end of a consumption year. This gives you an overview of how much electricity you are using in which months and you can easily check the end-of-year bill. You can also find out your own electricity consumption with the help of electricity meters available in electrical stores. These cost between 10 and 30 euros, depending on the manufacturer and make, and are equipped with a digital display that shows the electricity used by the connected device. The electricity meters are plugged into the socket and then connected to the electricity consumer.
Your average electricity consumption can also be determined based on the consumption values of your electricity consumers, which are of course also roughly specified in the manufacturer's information. However, this method is cumbersome and rather impractical when it comes to saving electricity and requires that you make a note of the respective electricity consumption.
What do you do with your average power consumption once you know it?

You can reduce your own electricity consumption by replacing your power guzzlers with energy-saving models or by following the tips on saving electricity. By adapting your consumption behavior, you can reduce electricity consumption per capita as well as for your entire household.
